MGM Grand Hotel
So the Harkness holiday train rolled into Las Vegas today and somehow ended up staying in the MGM Grand hotel no less! Don’t worry we haven’t lost the run of ourselves we booked it through a discount website recomended to us by Nancy (thanks again) and it only cost us $79 a night! Means more money left over to gamble….
We left Williams this morning and set out on a 4 hour drive to Las Vegas. We stopped near Kingman for lunch and also nearly got wiped out turning left at a set of traffic lights. My excuse is that Jill was trying to play mallets mallet at the time and distracted me, don’t try this at home kids it will only end in tears!
We made a stop at the Hoover Dam. On the road towards it all cars have to go through a security check point, the policeman must have liked the look of us though because he waved us on through. You actually drive across the top of the dam but they are building a bypass around it at the minute with a massive suspension bridge just up the valley. It’s all very impressive, the place was packed with tourists. Like us I suppose!
That brings us to Las Vegas itself, our home for the next two nights. We spent most of the evening just wandering around the hotel. It’s absolutely massive, I’ve never been in a hotel that actually has location maps dotted about the place so you can find where you’re going! There’s the casino, restaurants, shops, theatres, pools, a wedding chapel and 29 floors of rooms. It also has a couple lions in an enclosure at one end of the casino. So as yet we haven’t made it too far from the hotel but we’ll explore more tomorrow hopefully.
